To all those good people of VSB who venture here daily and comment to their hearts content, we humbly say thank you. And we’re not just saying it either, if we could hug you all, we’d do it. But since we can’t, you’ll just have to settle for these kind hearted words and sentiments.
With that said, I figured that today would be a perfect day to just, go down the list of things I’m greatful for. With so much drama in the LBC bad stuff in the world, sometimes you have to just take a step back and realize all of the greatness that is out there. And no Panama is not going all soft on you. Heaven’s no. I just robbed two old ladies with a slingshot and the threat of bootleg Polident, so my gangsta card is intact.
But it is Thanksgiving, the Redskins are still Indians, Liz is still protesting, and Black folks still have the itis.
So, without further ado, here are things I’m thankful for:
- good health – with all the H1N1, STDs, and bad breath going around, I’m amazed I’m still standing, but you ain’t really freshazimiz (yay, our first Bow Wow quote)
- my daughter’s good health – can’t say enough about this one. That’s my heart. Plus she’s got teeth now and if she senses foolywang, she tries to bite me.
- Plies, Gucci Mane, Bangs, etc – for providing me with hours of endless entertainment
- The ability to read – with unemployment looking like it is right now, I’m so glad I can read the tea leaves
- Reasonable (-ish) gas prices – I’m still driving a damn monster of a vehicle and it still drinks gas like hoes drink…well, you know…
- Liz’s patience
- The Champ’s ability to so defly use the shift+ key for capitalization. He’s a tru-master at that.
- Indoor plumbing – after hearing the tales of the toilets that were basically just holes in the ground, I’ve got a new found appreciate for the toilets in my home. Just yesterday I dapped my toilet up and said, “good job dawg”
- Adam Lambert’s AMA performance – if only because it’s finally good to see a white dude get in some trouble for some stuff he does on screen, even though I totally think he’s getting shafted by the networks (um, no pun intended)
- Jay-Z’s ability to not respond to Beanie Sigel’s ridiculous barbs at him – seriously, Beanie? Grow a pair and stop acting like a petulent child you petulant f*ck.
- Speaking of Jay, Beyonce’s inability to know when to call it quits – seriously she needs to take some time off, but then who would women hate on? Rihanna?? She’s still recovering from the gloom hand of the decade.
- My girl – because she puts up with a lot.
- Barack Obama’s first year in office – mostly because I never thought I’d say those words and the name attached was colored. Still can’t do the Chia Obama thing though. I’ve t-shirts, that should be enough.
- VSB – because without this site, who would I be? Aside from being this uber-sexxy trey-piece with an opinion and no forum? Besides, I’m working on editing the end of Malcolm X so that all the kids say, “i am VSB”. It’s not going so well, but I’m working on it, and I’m thankful that I have a job.
- Running this blog sh*t – sorry, the cocksman came out of me on that one. But I mean, you know how we do it.
Well those are just a few things I’m thankful for this Thanksgiving. What are you all thankful for? And don’t be shy?
Tell Uncle P all about it.
The floor is yours.
-VSB P aka THE ARSONIST aka TANGLE JIG P aka GIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIRL, HE A 3

Aha! I said I’d do it and finally did it: one of I my New Years resolutions to comment first at VSB! I am thankful for that! Yay!
Happy Thanksgiving to all VSB folk!
i’m ’bout to sound right geigh, but…
1. i’m thankful for my home (even tho i can barely afford it)
2. i’m thankful for my job (even tho folks drive me very close to the cusp of insanity–that’s for you Montgomery County, MD)
3. my parents (cuz they’re both cool in their individual ways)
4. my S O–this year was a hard one. you eff up again, we done, but i love you. seriously.
5. this blog–i appreciate the topics and i appreciate reading folks’ responses to them. to paraphrase the immortal wendy williams– you are all friends in my head.
happy thanksgiving. save me a crescent roll.
I’m thankful that I became an aunt this year. I’m thankful that I experienced true love – so that means i’ll never go back to bullsh–. I’m thankful that my mother and father get on my very last nerves — because at least they are here on earth to do it.
And finally I’m thankful for each and every one of our soldiers that come home, be it in spirit or in person. I realize that freedom isn’t free. I realize the sacrifice they make that isn’t shared equally between all classes.
~peace!
I’m thankful for:
- Great family & Friends. Seriously, I don’t know how they put up with my craziness but I’m so grateful for them.
- Good job – I survived a layoff this year and it was rough out there, but so thankful to find a new job and be able to pay my bills
- Co-sign on good health especially since with so much going around and working with people with kids.
- VSB – for constantly keeping me entertained. I’ve gotten many strange looks when reading it in public, but I don’t care. Y’all are hilarious.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
I am thankful for
1. the most wonderful family and friends ever
2. having come as far as I have in life
3. my health
4. having all those things that I NEED
Happy Thanksgiving to All!!
Good job on this post, Knower of all things Threed.
I found a fb status that basically challenges you to write one thing a day you’re thankful for until Thanksgiving, so I’ve been rolling with that. Some have been serious, like health, and some were not so serious, like chicken. What it has done is get me to realize that every day I wake up provides me with at least something to be thankful for…
Thanks a lot!
Happy Thanksgiving Y’all!
I am thankful for:
1. my parents: for funding my life. I hate working. lol. Oh and for loving me, and all that good stuff.
2. VSB: the VSB vocabulary is probably the bestest ever and I’m always trying to find ways to incorporate it into every day life. … Oh and because I actually have learned some things about dealing with men. two points.
3. My school: for canceling classes until next monday
4. my health: because no one wants H1N1.
5. My ex: n-n-now that that don’t kill me, can only make me stronger.
6. 2009: This has definitely been year of growth for me, and I’m thankful for that. I’m becoming an even better person
p.s. as a LBC resident, Peej, I can say that yep. there is still so much drama in the LBC. lol.
this is a great topic- quick aside…. it got me to thinking, that in many black southern african cultures, thanksgiving is something we do after major achievements, or end of a period of stress and strife – you graduated? throw a thanksgiving party, promotion? thanksgiving time! won a hectic court case? let’s give thanks! – the major difference, i guess is that we thank the ancestors, generally by slaughtering (and eating) a fattened beast….otherwise the rest of the elements remain the same – family and friend come over, lots of eating, drinking and merriment….and a priest to bless the “heathenish” proceedings – (i can never quite get how we manage to incorporate acknowledging the ancestors and christianity in this way – but we do!)
anyhoo, back to the topic at hand…i am thankful for –
1. the fact that in this horrid recession year, when so many competitors shut down, my business is still running, and going strong
2. we won that wretched court case (hot tip – ALWAYS pay through the nose for the best legal care. it’s completely worth every cent)
3. i am still happily in love with my beloved, and vice versa – despite a year of professional strife on his end.
4. my family will be all together for the first time in 11 years this christmas.
5. i have my health, good friends and my loving family in my life.
6. i am a young black woman living and thriving in a free south africa – for the first half of my life, that idea seemed like such a fantasy – yet here we are, 3 black presidents into it, we’re doing alright – AND we’ll be hosting the soccer world cup, too!! whoop-whooop!!
7. in my lifetime, i have seen mandela (for over 30 years, enemy of the state #1) become first black president of south africa, AND barack obama be the first black prez of the U.S. – what a blessing to have both these moments in my lifetime….
happy thanksgiving, beautiful people!! thanks for a lovely topic, PJ…
@superwoman,
how do i forget to give thanks for my daily breakfast morning treat – thanks ever so much to the lovelies at VSB – the champ, PJ and Liz… for daily dose of online fantastic-ness that i take with my breakfast….

Co-sign on family, health, home, & job.
I’m thankful for frozen yogurt and Triscuits – finally able to balance out a workout and satisfying my sweet tooth & snack attack
Finding my motivation & drive – taking the GRE this morning to start grad school next fall. The only person who is going to create opportunities and help me advance in my life goals is me. Took me a while to realize that. So I decided to fix my face, wake up, & pay attention!
Starting to date again – after a really BAD relationship ended, I took a hiatus from dating & went 4 years cold turkey. That’s was then & I’ve finally come out of hibernation
Ebay & Craigslist for helping me maintain my home with furniture & other findings for great phuking prices- Bought my almost brand new West Elm dining set for less then 1/2 the price. Enough said
My desire to want to read more – hence, your blog & a couple of others in addition to my goal of reading a book in it’s entirety every two weeks
Forgiveness – thankful to those who have forgiven me for the bullsh*t I’ve bestowed onto them in the past and for the ability to be a bit more forgiving to those who do bullsh*t to me
Enjoy your gobble, gobble and all that other good stuff you pair it with!
I’m thankful for God and for finding a church home this year, because I have no clue how I would have found the strength to deal with the shitstorm 2009 has been without faith.
I’m thankful for my mother, who does more for me than even I think she should. She is exactly who I want to be when I grow up.
I’m thankful for my 3-day old nephew who has restored a little bit of my joy with his arrival.
I’m thankful for the lil homie overit, who pretty much stalks me via telephone, but has one of the kindest hearts I’ve ever known. Love you hoe.
And mostly I’m thankful because 2009 is almost over.
@8th Wonder, awww….i’m calling you!
lmao.
I’m thankful for women with:

Something intelligent to speak on
I’m generally thankful for:
Friends who truly know me, not my image on a given day
Family (though you still better give me my space!)
VSB — One of the few places that makes me seem normal in comparison

My job in these uncertain times
Life
*Oh yeah and these VSB kats who keep my workday going by just a bit quicker than it was before I discovered ya’ll.
What did Adam Lambert do?
@IVR, he had a tad bit raunchy performance for his first single “Let Me Entertain You.” He kissed a male drummer, had leashes on a few male dancers, threw his crotch in the face of a male dancer. So a bunch of parents called in saying they were offended and didn’t want their children seeing that kind of stuff.
But I must agree with Panama on this one and say I’m glad that a white boy got in trouble at an awards show and the fact that he is completely unapologetic put the extra cream cheese on my red velvet cake
Thankful that I can book paid spoken word gigs so I can at least put something in on the groceries for the other half… (ugh, I’m poor BUT not homeless and happily cohabitating, lol)
@ Panama
I am about to ask you a question right now on guyspeak….
I’m thankful for VSB because without this site the slaveship would’ve broke a very intelligent sistah down!
Oh and my grandmother turned 76 this past Sunday; I thank God she is alive….that woman is my heart!
It seems Bangs has taken over the Jim Jones portfolio (Sidenote: Though i despise Jim Jones, i still think his verses on the Blacroc track with Mos Def was commendable…even a broken clock is right twice a day right?)
As for Jay not responding to Beans…”Don’t argue with fools, ’cause from a distance folks can’t tell who is who”
I don’t celebrate Thanksgiving, but many a thanks are given for the haven that is VSB. (and thanks for the re-affirmation that I’m not as crazy as some folks say i am..sheeeiiiit F yo couch)
I am thankful for many things:
1) my daughter, presently studying abroad in Ireland, I will miss her this holiday season;
2) my family, dysfunctional as we may be, we took a family torn apart when I was six, and put it back together, and though we still have some issues, we love each other;
3) both my jobs, I may work 7 days a week in order to provide a single life for me and to support my kid until she can do it herself, but I’m blessed to be able to do so. And I thank God frequently;
4) my friends, who know I’m crazy but sincere, silly but loving, and full of it but trustworthy;
5) the warmth and sunshine of spring;
6) my personal trainer, lol;
7) that I am alive and well.
Happy Thanksgiving VSB!

Last but certainly not least, – VSB and all the smiles and laughs I get from reading this everyday. I truly appreciate you guys!!
I hope everyone has a blessed Thanksgiving holiday and may we all sleep good from the itis
Things I am thankful for:
God – How I have made it this far in my life despite to the idiot decisions I have made and the dumb mistakes that I can’t redo, He is the only reason that I have here today and actually happy being me.
My mom – Who continues to be my rock despite her health not being where it wants to be.
My dad – Even though my folks split when I was five, I am glad that every year since I have been an adult, our relationship has gotten stronger.
My sisters , all 5 of them (3 blood, 2 step) – They have made me the man I am today and they remind why I love seeing women do well and succeed. And also to helping me prove if you are the only boy in a family full of women, you can end being a nice guy that isn’t gay.
My girl – This was a rough year for us and we learned a lot about each other. I don’t know what 2010 has in store but I am willing to take it day by day.
My grandmother – We are throwing her a surprise party for her 90th birthday and the fact she is still around to say she is proud of me has really kept me going in ways she cannot imagine.
My health – I have not felt as good as I do now ever in my life. Actually making a commitment to working out at least 3 times a week and eating better really changed my life in so many different facets.
My job – Blessed to have one with all that is going on in the world and to still have a job in engineering that has allowed to see parts of the country that I only read about and saw on TV.
For being a homeowner – Ain’t nothing like it.
Raekwon, Slaughterhouse, Kid Cudi, Pac Div- For restoring my faith in real hip hop again.
Burn Notice – For being a TV show that is action packed, hilarious and intelligent all the same time, and being able to watch all day and not get tired of it, kinda like Law and Order: SVU.
VSB – To the witty banter, interesting topics, and laugh out loud comments, this site has been a Godsend for me. To find other black folks out that intelligent and cultured but still kooky and funny at the same time is great. This site is a great outlet for me.
Barack Obama – To be around to see a black man in the White House, plus my mom, dad and grandmother being alive to see it, is still amazing to me. Plus, even though it may sound bad, the fact that he is pissing a lot of people off. If you are not pissing people off, you are not doing anything worth noting. He has honestly let us see who the real racists are in this country.
GQ, Men’s Health, Details, XXL – These magazines have cured my boredom on my plane trips and have actually enriched my life in a lot of ways.
The Genius button on ITunes – With the over 6000 songs on my computer, the way it is able to put mixes together based on one song has made me fall in love with my music catalog again.
The troops – I hate the wars we are in but I love the troops that sacrificing a lot to preserve our freedom. I have a lot of friends that have gone over and come back in one piece. I pray that they all do.
Moving back to Texas – I love this country and the many beautiful cities in it, but ain’t no place like home. I may not be back in Dallas by my momma, but H-Town is good enough. It is great to back to a place where a good, slow smoked barbecue brisket is appreciated, which I would much rather have on Thanksgiving than turkey.
That’s it for me, people. Many blessings to you all and yours and have a happy and safe Thanksgiving.
I am thankful for my family, friends, health,
beauty, intelligence, daily laughs, food, liquor, that gotdamn, job, VSB and my other daily site.I am also thankful for Facebook. Yeah I said it!! It’s only Wednesday, but I have witnessed some flat out f*ckery on there this week alone. Not even taking into account the past couple of years. I have been HIGHLY amused and entertained.
With that said, Happy Thanksgiving.
Also I would like to thank the man for letting me on VSB today. He’s been acting real funny towards VSB lately.
I’m thankful for:
-my family & friends
-my dog
-2009
-”living allowances”
-food, clothes, vehicle….the daily things
-life & good health
-football & basketball…and baseball, soccer…etc (ESPN, TCN(?), MASN…etc for that matter)
-VSB…definitely helps the day go by faster
-God
- intelligence (+ knowledge, wisdom, understanding and common sense)
-a place to live
I can’t believe you just said “freshazimiz”. I hatechu, Panama! And thankful that you started off my Wednesday morning with a nice chuckle.
“Speaking of Jay, Beyonce’s inability to know when to call it quits – ”
Ain’t there rumors of her being pregnant? I mean, if true, that’ll be the moment where she finally sit down…but I wouldn’t put it past her if she busts our with “Pregnant Ladies” (“If you broke then you shoulda put a condom on it”).
Cheekie Gives Thanks For:
- Even though I
stupidlyvolunteered to work this Friday (we work with the international firm so they don’t give thanks, thus are still open both days…heathens), I’m thankful to receive the muchly-needed time-and-a-half pay for that day. Would go well with my Christmas shopping. I coulda worked tomorrow, too, butMama didn’t raise no foolI gotta help prepare food and ish.- My family. I love dem niccas.
- My health. I prasied everything that is the annointed prayer cloth this past week when I realized I didn’t have a fever. As soon as I caught a cold, I rushed to the “Symptoms of H1N1″ list the HR dpt provided us and breathed a sigh of utmost relief.
- Champie’s deez – without ‘em, I’d have nothin’ much to laugh at.
- Panama’s tangents – He runs off on them like Usain Bolt runs a track. But, they’re entertaining.
- Liz’s strength – I’m not sure how anyone could put up with Champanama (see how I did that, there.?Take that TMZ/E!/Insider/Misc.gossip-site!) without some true strength.
- The VSB family. Ya’ll make my work days much more fun and on some days, dayum near tolerable. You keep me laughing and almost getting fired. And for that, I am thankful.
-
My booty.- That bomb-arse meal I’mma ’bout to have tomorrow. Whoo! I haven’t had greens and homemade mac ‘n cheese in what feels like a century! I’mma CLOWN tomorrow!
Have a lovely Thanksgiving, ya’ll!!
@Cheekie,
– Champie’s deez – without ‘em, I’d have nothin’ much to laugh at.
- Panama’s tangents – He runs off on them like Usain Bolt runs a track. But, they’re entertaining .
::snickering::
@Cheekie,
lmao @ but I wouldn’t put it past her if she busts our with “Pregnant Ladies” (”If you broke then you shoulda put a condom on it”).
my friend’s senior med school class did a parody for their end of the year play called “All the Little Babies” and the chorus was something like “if ya liked it then ya shoulda put a ring in it… cuz ya never shoulda had any damn children, if ya liked it then ya shoulda put a ring in it” (talking about Nuva ring) LOL.
@The One & True GEM… of the Ocean,
HA!!! Brilliant!!!
@Cheekie, LOL! You know they TRY me all the time! I am thankful for my strenFF as well!
I’m thankful for GOD, the LORD Jesus, the HOLY spirit….for his grace and mercy, favor, blessings and LOVE….
I am thankful for:
1. My family, wonderful bf and cats that keep me sane during my trying times as a grad student.
2. I am thankful for my health!. Having swine flu is no joke
3. I am thankful for my hair dresser who has manged to fix what the old hair dresser was doing wrong.
4. I am thankful for friends that make me laugh even when nothing else in life is funny.
5. Thanks VSB for the weekly comic relief.
There are many more things but these things stand out now.
things i’m thankful for
my family and friends for being my family and friends and sh*t
my great gf for putting up with my nonsense, acid reflux, and legions of groupies
the vsb fam, especially p trusting me so much that he revealed to me that he’s actually drakes a&r, and liz’s boobs
the vsb-ers, the best group of readers and commentators on the internet (no bullsh*t)
30 cent cajun wings
the nba league pass
my vsb t-shirts
my bank account, bitches (ha! just put that in there for a laugh and to see if ya’ll were still paying attention)
the free wi-fi at crazy mocha
the half-dozen or so new pittsburgh transplant friends ive met this year
and, most importantly, deez
@The Champ,
your girlfriend is a SAINT for dealing with your vsb shirts and your funky deez. God bless her!
Lets See: I am thankful for
The time my mother was able to spend on this earth. Although it ended too soon I know she is in heaven watching over me and hopefully celebrating her birthday today!
My grandmother – she raised me in my mothers absence and still scares the crap outta me even though I’m a grown @ss man.
White women (jk) LoL
VSB – I get to work in the morning . . . log in to my computer . . . check out the foolishness I get sent on email . . . then type in that url and prepare to laugh.
The INTERNET . . . even though comcast aint trying to see a brother in silver spring to hook me up apparently . . . Life would be boring as hell without it.
My little brother – we dont get along most of the time . . . but we all we got.
My job – Where else can you run VSB and Hulu.com and get paid for it. Good looking out!
Betsy (my car) – I promise I will treat you better next year. Thanx for sticking it through.
United States Air Force – thanx for the free degree. (please don’t call me back though . .. I got 3 years left IRR)
New York City – wherever I am in the world you are always my home!
That is all I can think of.
@IVR,
white women? LMAO. you’re a mess. And I feel you on your brother… even though I wanna throat punch mine half the time, i still love him
I am thankful for:
—My daughter. She is the love and light of my life and I’d have never known what true love is without her. I’m also thankful that my dad got to see her before he died as she was truly the light in his eyes too.
—My family. We are dysfunctional as hell, but we’re still here and we all love one another–in spite of our mental ailments.
—My BFF who just gave birth two months early to my new godson and for him as well. He’s hanging in and getting better with each day.
—My first “child” my Maltese Snowball aka My White Boy. He drives me crazy and sure he has a sever little man complex, but he’s my boy.
—Surviving my divorce, my dad’s death, and my granddad’s death all in one year. I promise 2008-2009 was one helluva year and there were days I just didn’t want to open my eyes to see a new day, but to reference my girl Celie (since you all seem to love the Color Purple so)”Dear God, I’m still here!”
—All the lessons that I have learned and will continue to learn as long as I live on this earth.
—Finally learning to love and accept myself for being as freshazimiz–now I didn’t even plan on working that one in! Yay me! *as inspired by Panama*
—My Almighty and Divine Creator for keeping me each day.
—The VSB fam. You guys are friggin’ hilarious and bring a great deal of amusement to my mundane existence.
—The wonderful people who have touched my lives. However short or long the interaction. However pleasant or unpleasant the time spent was I’m thankful. I realize that we are who we are in part due to those around us and I get that the interactions I have with folk influence me. So I’m thankful for each person–even the haters.
—Life. In the words of Amel Larrieux, “this is all I got.” So I may as well make the best of it. As sad as I have been this past year, I certainly didn’t want to stop breathing permanently. So I’m thankful for this life I live and all that comes with it.
To good health and strength. Thank you for not leaving me stranded. For 2009 and everything you taught me that 2008 forgot to warn me about. For healthy family and friends and VSB!. Even though we’re no longer, to the access code of the 100 gig memory of happiness and laughter of C****. And to promising new beginnings…
“The Champ’s ability to so defly use the shift+ key for capitalization. He’s a tru-master at that. ”
I read this line about three times before I thought to ask –
Did you mean “defTly?”
I’m thankful every single day…don’t need the holiday to acknowledge that.
I am thankful for….
1. My wonderful, supportive parents.
2. My brother, and sisters. They have been great, especially my oldest sister who have been my sounding board for all of my various complaints.
3. Great friends
4. My job… I complain about it, but I am constantly thanking God for allowing me to have. I know what it’s like to be unemployed, so this job is a definitely a blessing.
To celebrate this Thanksgiving season, I leave you all with this wonderful video of kids reenacting the first Thanksgiving….

I was feeling hella salty when folks were saying they were getting out early. I just about snarked, “Oh, good for you. *eyeroll*” to my own niece who told me she had a half o’ day.
Yay!
@Cheekie,
I get to leave @ 2pm CST. Take that Chi-town!!!!
Happy Turkey Day chickie!
@miss t-lee,
Oh, so you gon’ make me feel salty right after I rubbed some of the previous salt off me? I see how it is. *grumble*
HAHA! You have a fantastic Turkey Day, too!
I am thankful for God, my life, my children, employment, health insurance, family (we are silly at times, but they are mines and I wouldn’t trade them…well, most of them), my friends who keep me sane, my church family, and I am so very thankful for this site! I became a reader this year and have not missed a single post! You guys keep me laughing and learning…..great work!
Happy Thanksgiving
awwwwwwww this post is sooo cuteeee! makes me feel all warm and fluffy inside.
Things I’m thankful for:
*My brother and *new* sister-in-law. I love them too much for words.
*My homegirls for keeping a smile on my face and giving me strength through laughter.
*My fellow Antioch grads for constantly motivating me to write and submit to every market out there.
*”UPMC Perks”. Especially for that discount at Massage Envy.
*My ING account for keeping my rainy day money away from me.
*Pittsburgh for welcoming me back (and b*tch slapping me for the first 2 months that I was here).
*My new Burgh friends, Wing Night & Dry Cajun Wings (even though y’all negroes are sometimey with that sh*t)
*My bed- it’s my first grown up bed and it’s lovely.
*My e-buddies. Even though I’ve never met y’all and some of you can’t multi-task worth a d@mn (overit), you make me laugh M-F and keep me from falling asleep and/or cussing out my boss. And for that, I kind of luv you. lol
*The O for never changing.
*Tamiflu and Popsicles
@Miss Patterson,
you did not specifically state me in your thanks. please try again.
thanks!(giving)
@The One & True GEM… of the Ocean,
cough, cough
*looking below and not seeing my name mentioned either* oh gemmie!
@Miss Patterson, oh snap…I forgot to give thanks to the existence of VSB and Panama & Champ. Without this blog/website/forum there would be less laughter and more productivity in my life. Not to mention do you know how many more ninjas I know because of this url right here? Seriously, VSB has created some serious connections. I think you all should get an award (Liz included) for actually creating a sustainable network and for allowing so many friendships to blossom. Ok, that’s enough. I should get a room with this website, but I won’t.
i dont comment here much but i would like to thank vsb for keeping me entertained and allowing me to breathe a sigh of relief because there are intelligent black men in this world that can make valid and erudite arguments.
-im thankful for the almighty
- im thankful that im going to ghana next year ( god willing im alive)
-im thankful that good music is making a comeback a la maxwell and wait for it…….. wait for it……..SADE * screams*
-lastly im thankful for life and good people.
i am thankful to 2520s who sailed the ocean blue to rape the “american” natives and pillage their land, stealing it from under said natives and forcing them to leave. without such events we may not have a “turkey day” to offer thanks to all the things which we are thankful for.
so… thanks yt for giving me an excuse to get my grub on far past the point of catching the “itis” but to the point of comatose. essentially, im just thankful for thanksgiving. yay!
@The One & True GEM… of the Ocean,
for this you need to repent and in your own words, GO SAT DOWN!
I am thankful for:
-thechamp and p for giving me such a great site to work with over this past year and a half.
-all of the readers who come here everyday, those of you who comment, as well as those of you who don’t comment but read the comments (like me!). it truly is a pleasure to work with you all.
-family!
-friends!
-being able to travel
@Liz, we’re thankful for you too, LIZ!!!
I am thankful for…
…My health, and that of my family
…my husband (decided to stay married, keep hope alive)
…being self-employed, hustlin ain’t easy but it’s what I do
…my BFF, ride-or-die, till the ends of the earth, we are there for each other
…sleeping in my own bed
…height, makes it harder to tell that I really need to drop 10 lbs.
…Maxwell *swoon*
…VSB! I lurk faithfully, am entertained and enligthened constantly
I am thankful for:
-Health: I’ve had a few friends and family deal with health issues that severely restricted their ability to live life, and pursue goals. I’m grateful that this machine of a human body, decided to work the way it does. I’m still a koala, and koalas do not do 9-5s, but that is neither here nor there.
-Friends: I’m not putting this in the same category as family, because my friends don’t make me want to pull a Will Smith in Seven Pounds, lol. From e-life to real life, I truly feel I’m one of the luckiest people on earth to have friends who make me laugh, force me to aim higher, help me realize my potential at times I don’t see it, and make me proud to have as friends. If friends are a reflection of who you are, then I’m doing alright;) Ms. Patterson, I see you! She sends me e-mails to poetry contests when the deadline is the next day, she thinks I’m THAT talented! (sarcastic) Special shout-out to 8th Wonder, truly beautiful inside and out, she makes me laugh until I CRY, tells me to saddown when I need to (regularly) and…I just love her:) Even though she refuses to add me on blackberry chat, rude heffa she is, I know she loves me.
*e-twin: She can be in the middle of friends and family. She gives great ideas in the middle of bridal shower crisis, entertains my ignorance, and most importantly, is a B Scott enthusiast. Paw Paw!
Family: Always two things at once, infuriating as hell, but the thought of life without them is unthinkable. Special shoutout to my brother, the funniest guy alive, and Papa Overit, the best man and father out there. Mama Overit would probably get her own category, but I’ll spare yall. Mamas are something else…I can’t ever re-pay her for everything she’s done, she’s all the inspiration I need to aim higher.
Art: From murals, photography to music, what is life without expression? The fact that we all more or less have access to the same modes of expression, but we create such a range…is beautiful.
Faith: Without faith, and the lessons that it brings, I’d be…I don’t even know. It was faith that allowed me to maximize..or continue to maximize on my potential, to SEE the beauty in people and nature around me, and to see the lessons in everything, even when they werent my own. Love you, God.
VSB: Thanks to Champ and Panama, 2 brothas who have jobs and real life and ish, but who take the time to provide an e-playground for the coloreds. We ‘preciate ya. Of course, the commenters are the best, you all kill me with your stories, and for the times where people are open enough to share their pitfalls .kudos to you too. We family and ish.
Food: I just love food, I don’t discriminate. I am just so excited.
There are a TON more, these stick out now.
Happy Thanksgiving ya’ll:)
It’s almost thanksgiving,
so let me be the first to say, “you’re welcome”
Now, for the giving thanks part:
I would first like to give thanks to the little things. The things people often forget to be thankful for, like sunny days:)
also:
-humor
-family
-Stephan Colbert
- southpark
-Family Guy
-Books
-Being literate
-friends that always know what to do when you’re in a funk
-the word Bitch and Hoe…oh and fuck. Much needed and underused. Totally comes in handy at times like these:
@overit and @8thwonder: Thank you hoes for being my bitches, always ready to be ignant and fuckkeeen with me.
you guys are awesome!
I am thankful that I wake up everyday with heat, hot water, a roof over my head, and a job. The basics!!! Plus, my true friends who have really become my family. The ones that I’m spending thanksgiving with. I’m thankful that my mom is still here another year because her health is deteriorating. And lastly, I’m thankful that my sister is more in my life than she has been the last 23 years. I realize I am truely blessed.
happy thanksgiving to you good folks as well. im enjoying the site…
your verbal prowess inspires us wanna be writers out yonder
I’m thankful for VSB! I recently discovered the site, and you’ve already filled the hole left by StuffBlackPeopleHate (RIP)
1. My family and friends
2. Being alive and coming back from my year in Afghanistan, for the most part, intact
3. That by next Thanksgiving I would have sold my house (Pre-emptive thanks)
4. That the families of my friends and co-workers who did not survive their deployments are doing well and adjusting
